NORTHERN LIGHTS LUMINARIES.
Our Northern Lights Luminaries begin as finely woven silk fabric and wool roving. Through the Nuno felting process, they are married together to form an orb that is both thin enough to allow the glow of a tea light to shine through and sturdy enough to stand on their own. The various designs are achieved by layering more than one type of silk in varying ways to create colorful patterns while multiple hues of wool are also used to produce color play. One of the fascinating characteristics of these creations is the uniqueness with which they take shape as they dry. Although we guide their final appearance, in the end it is the joining of the wool and silk that determines the final shape when each is completely dry thus creating a unique, one-of-a-kind treasure.
